The lovely and talented Charlotte Martin, up-and-coming Sarah Slean, Chantal Kreviazuk, and outrageous styl- ist Regina Spektor, a handful of our new favorite pianists, all come from classical backgrounds, as do many women who end up playing pop piano. Regina, born in Moscow, has caught on with the hipster cognoscenti-deservedly so-because of her connection with the Strokes, who have taken her on tour.
