2002-12-19 New York, NY | Tonic

This show featured the debut of The Flowers (written earlier that same cold day) and was the occasion of producer Gordon Raphael seeing Regina perform for the first time.  There is no recording of this show as far as I know:
The Flowers
Poor Little Rich Boy
Ave Maria
Chemo Limo

2002-09-18 New York, NY | Knitting Factory

I believe this was the night drummer/producer Alan Bezozi was first introduced to Regina (Bezozi would go on to record with Regina and bring producer Gordon Raphael to her show at Tonic on 12/18/2002).   I also believe these may have been the debut performances of Ave Maria and Somedays.

Recorded by pattivill:
01) Ave Maria (partial)
02)
03) Poor Little Rich Boy
04)
05) Somedays
06)
07) Just like the Movies

09) Music Box

Ave Maria

Written by: regina spektor

Available Recordings: Click to view

Lyrics (fan transcription):
a boy on a train with a birthmark on his forehead
listening to language tapes and all he hear is birds
everyone laughs cause he brings his own chair to the office
convinced that the cushions will give him steadier thoughts

the muscles of the intellectuals are atrophying
nobody’s running, nobody’s hiding
they’re lit by a light that isn’t even the sun
lit by a light that isn’t even the moon
ave maria…

now how many times have I told you not to go there?
how many times have I begged you not to go?
and how many times have you snuck down to that cellar
just to watch how the roots begin to grow straight up through our floor?
